New ADVANCE Program Admissions Policy

Beginning Fall 2021, all new or returning inactive students applying to ADVANCE will be admitted under the “ADVANCE Program.”  Students will no longer designate a specific certificate, diploma or leadership diploma program, nor be admitted into a specific certificate, diploma or leadership diploma program.

Upon acceptance, the student is free to take whichever classes they desire and will need to take a minimum of one (1) class every two (2) years to remain active (e.g. Fall 2021 students must take another class before Fall 2023 to remain active).

In order to receive any certificate, diploma or leadership diploma, the student must satisfy all course requirements for each desired certification.  Once course requirements are met, a Certificate Completion Form will be required for every applicable certificate, and a Graduation Application and graduation fee will be required for every applicable diploma and/or leadership diploma.  After receiving a certificate, diploma or leadership diploma, the student will remain active, so long as they continue to take at least one (1) class every two (2) years.

For current students under a specified certificate, diploma or leadership diploma, they will remain in their current program until graduation, or until they become inactive.  Upon graduation, they will automatically be kept active and switched to the “ADVANCE Program.”  They may continue to take classes without reapplying, so long as they take at least one (1) class every two (2) years.

The general application process is not changing.  New students and returning inactive students will need to submit a:

(1) new student application
(2) church endorsement form
(3) $30 application fee

The new student application will change slightly.  As mentioned, students will no longer designate a specific certificate, diploma or leadership diploma program.  However, students will be asked to identify all ministry areas that interests them.  This information will be available to the local center in order to better understand  the interests and needs of the student.  If the local center consents, our office will send the student information about pertinent classes available online elsewhere.

Students can still go inactive and will need to reapply as if they are a new student if they go inactive.  However, now students have a longer period between classes before going inactive.

There is still a course credit transfer policy applicable to certificates, diplomas and leadership diplomas.  However, it has been changed from 50% to 2/3rds.  This means a student pursuing a diploma could transfer in 5 of 8 classes, and a student pursuing a leadership diploma could transfer in 10 of 16 classes.  Our office can assist in degree audits (upon request) when it seems a student is eligible to receive their next certification.
